On Wednesday, 24th July 2024, Hon. Fatimatu Abubakar, the Minister of Information, welcomed to her office the executives of Global Volunteers Corps (GVC) made up of the President, Mr. Stephen Kwaku Darku, the Country Director -Ghana, Madam Grace Ackah, and Mrs. Princess Pat Afful, Administrator.

The Minister expressed her appreciation for GVC’s efforts in promoting volunteerism and community development across the nation. The Minister acknowledged the positive impact of GVC’s work and reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting volunteer initiatives.

GVC proposed a partnership with the Ministry of Information to enhance public awareness of volunteer opportunities and the impact of volunteerism. Possibility of joint campaigns to promote volunteerism and emphasis on the importance of recognizing and rewarding volunteers were also discussed.

GVC introduced the National Volunteer Awards initiative to the Hon Minister, with the first ceremony scheduled for 15th August, 2024.
